Telemetry

Once a week, Lunar Paper sends a small report to https://telemetry.lunarpaper.com. The report contains the version, the licence status, how often each module is opened, and an optional category that describes what the installation is used for. It never contains anything about your users or their work. Telemetry is on by default, and turning it off does not change anything else.

Lunar Paper sends two reports. Each one includes a timestamp and a random installation ID, which is created on the first start.

Level 1: installation

{
"installationId": "00000000-1111-2222-3333-444444444444",
"sentAt": "2026-08-25T12:00:00.000Z",
"version": "0.0.1",
"licence": { "status": "valid", "productId": "…", "productName": "Lunar Paper" },
"timeZone": "Europe/London",
"installationPurpose": "education_research"
}

installationPurpose is blank unless an administrator picks a category under Administration → Telemetry. It never takes free text.

Level 2: module usage

{
"modules": {
"month": "2026-08",
"hits": { "audio": 3, "design": 1 }
}
}

This report counts how many times each module was opened this month, across the whole installation. A long session in a module counts as one.

  • Users, names, email addresses, teams or workspaces.
  • Anything anyone created: forms, documents, pages, file names.
  • IP addresses, host names or server names. When a report arrives, the telemetry server works out the country from the connection and then discards the address.
  • Company names or descriptions.

Go to Administration → Telemetry. Run test shows you the exact report without sending it. To stop sending a level, switch off Include in the automatic report for that level. The change takes effect straight away.

Effect
Level 1 off Nothing is sent.
Level 2 off Module usage is no longer counted or sent.

No feature or licence check depends on telemetry. If you block it with a firewall instead, Lunar Paper carries on without reporting an error.

Host Port Direction
telemetry.lunarpaper.com 443 Outbound HTTPS

Telemetry uses the proxy set under Administration → Network → Proxy Configuration. Licence activation uses a different host, so blocking one does not affect the other.
