Getting Started
Follow these steps to run Lunar Paper on your own computer or server and start using it.
Already have access to Lunar Paper? Open the address provided by your administrator, sign in, and skip to Create your first service. You do not need to install anything on your computer to use an existing instance.
1. Install Docker
Section titled “1. Install Docker”Docker runs Lunar Paper and its supporting services. Follow Install Docker for your operating system, then check that Docker and Docker Compose work.
If Docker is already installed and running, use the checks in that guide and continue to the next step.
2. Install Lunar Paper
Section titled “2. Install Lunar Paper”Open Install Lunar Paper to choose an installation guide. Docker Compose is recommended for most installations. Its guide takes you through creating the configuration files and starting Lunar Paper.
Other guides cover HTTPS, a trial using docker run, and managing Docker through Arcane.
3. Open Lunar Paper and sign in
Section titled “3. Open Lunar Paper and sign in”Open the address you configured during installation. On a fresh installation,
unlock setup with the generated SETUP_KEY, review the empty database state and
explicitly start initialization. The platform imports its init files, verifies
Platform and Intake, and activates the release before you launch the application.
Then sign in with the administrator account from your installation guide. Check
the guide’s verification and troubleshooting sections if Lunar Paper is not ready.
4. Create your first service
Section titled “4. Create your first service”Lunar Paper is organized around services. A service is the shared workspace for a business capability, project, internal product, department process, or public experience.
Inside a service, you can create and connect workflows, forms, data views, dashboards, reports, pages, documents, planning diagrams, project records, and creative assets.
Follow Create a service, then use the Services quickstart to set its identity, choose its modules, and manage access. If you joined an existing instance, you can open a service your administrator has shared with you instead.
Choose a module in your service and follow its quickstart to create your first item. For example, the Forms quickstart walks through creating and testing a form.
