Emails troubleshooting

These are roughly in the order they come up when you build an email from scratch.

Their layout widths do not add up to 100%. That is the only cause.

Select each block and check Layout Width in the properties panel. Two blocks need 50% each; four need 25% each. A 50% next to a 100% will always stack.

The blocks also have to be next to each other in the list. A divider between them starts a new row.

It is a system template. Those ship with the platform, belong to no service, and are read-only everywhere.

Use Duplicate on its card. The copy belongs to your service and behaves normally.

A template shows under All Templates but under no category

Section titled “A template shows under All Templates but under no category”

Its stored category is not one of the six the filter row offers. The filters are Marketing, Transactional, Notification, Newsletter, Onboarding, and Custom, but a template can carry a value outside that set — the Product Announcement template that ships with the platform is categorised “Promotional”, and no filter button will ever show it.

The template still works and still opens from All Templates. If it is one of yours, change its category to one of the six. If it is a system template, you cannot, and All Templates or the search box is how you reach it.

The images do not show in the email I received

Section titled “The images do not show in the email I received”

Most email clients block images until the reader allows them. That is the client behaving normally, not a fault in the email.

What you can control is what happens meanwhile. Give every image real alt text, so a reader with images off still gets the meaning. And do not put anything essential — a discount code, the date of an event — into an image alone.

Section titled “A link does not work in the email but works in preview”

The link is probably missing its https://. A bare path resolves against the platform while you are previewing inside it, and resolves against nothing once the email is in an inbox.

Open the block, check Link URL, and make it a full address.

The accessibility checker flags contrast I think is fine

Section titled “The accessibility checker flags contrast I think is fine”

It is comparing your text colour against its background and applying a fixed ratio. Your judgement on a bright monitor is not the test — the test is somebody reading on a phone outdoors.

If you disagree, you can ignore it. Nothing blocks. But the errors are worth more attention than the warnings.

The spam score is high and I cannot see why

Section titled “The spam score is high and I cannot see why”

Each trigger in the panel carries its own point cost and a line of advice, so work down the list rather than guessing.

The ones that catch people out are link density — too many links for the amount of text — and a high ratio of image to text. Both are common in a well-designed promotional email, which is exactly why filters watch for them.

A good score is not a guarantee of delivery. The checker simulates a filter; it is not the filter.

Check the junk folder first.

Then check the email service you picked in the drawer. Several can be configured, one is marked (Default), and picking one that is not set up correctly fails quietly from the editor’s point of view.

If it still does not arrive, the problem is in the email service configuration rather than in this module.

The test email says “Hi ,” with no name

Section titled “The test email says “Hi ,” with no name”

The variable has no default value, or its default is an empty string.

Tests and previews have no recipient behind them, so they use defaults. Open Variables, give each one a realistic default, and send again. Personalise with variables covers writing text that survives a missing value.

Outlook renders with a different engine from every other client, and nothing in the editor simulates it.

The blocks generate table-based HTML precisely because that is what Outlook handles, so standard blocks are usually fine. The common culprit is an HTML Code block, which is outside all of that.

If your audience is corporate, a test opened in real Outlook belongs in your routine, not at the end of it.

I changed a snippet and my existing emails did not update

Section titled “I changed a snippet and my existing emails did not update”

They will not. Every snippet insert is a copy taken at that moment, and there is no link back to the original.

The same is true of templates. Updating the snippet fixes future emails only; existing ones need updating one at a time.

I cannot find the Revert button on a version

Section titled “I cannot find the Revert button on a version”

The latest version has Preview but no Revert, because reverting to the state you are already in would do nothing.

Older versions have both.

There is not one. This module builds email templates; it does not send campaigns.

Use in Campaign on the card in the email list hands the template to Marketing, which is where sending to a list happens.
