Organize and navigate with the outline

The Outline tab in the left panel shows the structure of the whole document. It is built from headings, component titles, and nest levels.

Heading components become outline entries. The document canvas separates heading components from component titles, so make sure you use Heading blocks for major sections. Use H1 for the document title, H2 for major sections, and H3 for subsections.

Each component has a Nest level property in the right panel. Nest level controls how the component appears in the outline and table of contents. A component at nest level 2 appears as a child of the previous level-1 heading.

Drag a component by its handle (⋮⋮) to move it up or down. You can also use keyboard shortcuts:

  • Ctrl+Shift+↑ moves the selected component up.
  • Ctrl+Shift+↓ moves the selected component down.

In the Outline tab, click a section to jump to it on the canvas. Use the collapse arrows to hide subsections while you focus on a single part of the document.

Insert the Table of Contents reference component to render the outline directly in the document. It updates automatically as headings and nest levels change.
