Install Docker
Lunar Paper runs on Docker, together with Docker Compose. Follow Docker’s official guide for your system:
- Windows: Docker Desktop for Windows, with the WSL 2 backend and Linux containers.
- macOS: Docker Desktop for Mac, choosing Apple silicon or Intel.
- Linux: Docker Engine plus the
Docker Compose plugin. Use
sudoif your setup requires it.
Docker Desktop includes Docker Compose. Start Docker Desktop, then check that Docker works by running these commands in PowerShell or a terminal:
docker versiondocker compose versionThe first command shows Client and Server details, and the second shows the Docker Compose version. If the first command says it cannot connect to the server, start Docker Desktop or the Docker service.
Lunar Paper images are built for 64-bit Intel and AMD processors. Macs with Apple silicon can run them through emulation, but they run more slowly. ARM servers, such as a Raspberry Pi, are not supported.
