Licensing
Software ownership and licence
Section titled “Software ownership and licence”Lunar Paper is proprietary software. Ben Martinson owns its source code, object (compiled) code, design, documentation and branding, except for third-party components and materials, which remain the property of their respective owners and are subject to their own licences.
Your licence gives you permission to use Lunar Paper; it does not transfer ownership. Access to source code, a public repository or a container image does not make Lunar Paper open source or grant additional rights to copy, modify, create derivative works, redistribute, resell or sublicense it.
The Lunar Paper Software Licence sets out the permitted uses and restrictions. It preserves permitted installation and backup copies, supported configuration and customisation, edits to supplied deployment configuration for your permitted installation, third-party licence rights and rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Other copying, modification or redistribution requires Ben Martinson’s prior written permission.
You retain ownership of the data and content you put into Lunar Paper. This page summarises the licence; the full licence supplied with your version governs its use.
Activation
Section titled “Activation”When you buy a licence through the checkout on the Lunar Paper website, you receive a licence key. Enter the key in Lunar Paper, which checks it on the server. After activation, the key is stored encrypted and is never sent back to the browser.
Free mode
Section titled “Free mode”Without a valid licence, or when the licence server cannot be reached, Lunar Paper runs in Free mode with three user seats.
- No accounts or content are deleted.
- Accounts that do not have a seat show Licence suspended. They cannot sign in, with a password or with SSO, until they are given a seat.
- The first administrator (
SYSTEM_ADMIN_USERNAME) always keeps a seat. - To choose who else keeps a seat, go to Administration → Security & Access → Users and use Keep enabled.
- Directory sync cannot bypass the seat limit.
Third-party notices
Section titled “Third-party notices”The licences for the software, artwork, data and services Lunar Paper uses are listed in the app under Settings → Third-party notices. For audio sample credits, see Audio licensing and attribution. Some connectors need a driver you install yourself; see Optional drivers.
