Document design

Document design in Lunar Paper is about the finished output. The same content can look formal, modern, or classic depending on the typography preset, paper theme, and brand kit you choose.

Design panel with typography presets and base typography controls

A typography preset is a bundled set of font family, sizes, line heights, and heading styles. The three built-in presets are:

  • Professional pairs a serif body with a clean heading hierarchy, which works well for requirements and proposals.
  • Modern is sans-serif with generous spacing, a good fit for product and design documents.
  • Classic uses formal proportions and traditional heading styles for research and compliance reports.

Presets are starting points. You can override the base font family, size, and line height, and expand the Heading Styles or Paragraph Style sections to fine-tune individual levels.

Paper themes control the visual page: background color, margins, page shadows, and structural separators. Switching themes helps you preview how the document will look when exported to PDF or printed.

Running headers and footers appear on every exported page. You can use static text or placeholders such as document title, page number, and version. Configure both in the Design panel.

The document supplies the default paper size and orientation. A Page Break starts the following component on a new page with the current layout. A Section Break lets the following content inherit the previous layout, return to document defaults, or use custom paper size and orientation until the next Section Break.

Paper theme, margins, typography defaults, headers, footers and page numbering remain document-wide. The Theme paper-size option takes dimensions from the current document theme. To give a wide table landscape pages, place a custom Section Break before it and a document-layout Section Break afterward. If that content grows, the layout follows the section across multiple pages.

See Layout and page breaks for insertion and properties instructions.

If the service has a Brand module kit, you can apply its colors and typography to the document. This is useful when the exported document must match service-level brand rules.

Open a component’s Properties panel and expand Style Overrides to change typography for that component only. Overrides are useful for cover pages, callouts, appendices, or any block that needs to break from the document default.
